Mr. Biggleston

This year I was the one who passed out all the presents to the family sitting in the living room. I figured rich people probably have someone on staff to do this task. This guys name is Mr. Biggleston and he's my future butler. He will deliver my presents and wash my socks.
Original size is 11x14 and is watercolor...

unicycling rabbit

This one is for a potential job. Always wanted to paint a unicycling rabbit anyway.

Looking over my work lately, I guess I'm kinda into rabbits. Not sure how that happened. I've only owned one rabbit in my life. His name was thumper (really original huh?). He was blind and would bite you every time you tried to pick him up. Good times! He eventually ate through some wiring which didn't end so well.

Winter Walk

This one is for some cards I'm doing for the Crafty Wonderland art fair this winter in Portland. It's in watercolor and ink...

character tryouts

This is what my desk looks like as I try to find the right character for the new book that I'm working on. It's a very fun part of the process but it's also really difficult. You have to find the right shapes and details to tell the story correctly.

Once I finish this stage, I try the character out in a few settings to see how they hold up. Sometimes they do, other times I need to go back to the drawing board.

3x3 annual

Hi everyone,

Just found out that 7 of my images made it into the 3x3 children's annual. Whoo hoo! This is a contest I've entered a few times with no success. It's nice to finally make the cut!

I am currently working on a commercial pitch for Laika. I'll post those images once they say it's ok to. More images on the way as well. I'll try to post a little more often here...

Sketches

waiting...

This is an image inspired by another image that Burnie Fuchs made (RIP). He was so awesome! This is my take on the same theme he was tackling. Also, I wanted to see if I could make a rather mundane moment (waiting for the bus) interesting. If someone gets good at that, there is no story they can't tell...

figure painting

I don't post a lot of the more realistic work I do, but I thought I might start. I love drawing/painting the figure. Here's a quick effort in watercolor. It's nice to do these, because you get to relax and not think too much about storytelling (which is HARD)...

Heart Blower

Here's an image I intended to do for valentines day but I never seem to get holiday cards out on time. I did a few versions with different color ways. The first color version is how it is actually painted (in watercolor on arches paper). The studies I did originally were black and white with only the hearts in red.

I'm not sure which one I prefer, any thoughts??
