These are some images for a children's book I wrote called "To Catch a Sunbeam". It's about a girl who sets off to catch the sun in a box and end a flood. They are in watercolor, collage, ink, colored pencil, and pastel.

This property is unsigned, so let me know if you are interested in publishing it. If there are no takers soon I will probably do it on kickstarter.

Whoo Hoo! Today I was featured on Carter Higgins "Design of the Picture Book" blog. What a nice way to start the day! http://designofthepicturebook.com/2012/10/26/sophies-fish/.

Here's two paintings I did for my MFA graduate studies. These are portraits done in the "push pin studios" style of the 50's. What a great era for illustration! I had such a good time working on these and could see bringing a bit more of this feel to my illustration work.

Here's a little sample of what my thumbnail sketches look like when I'm working on a book project. They are small and messy, but really help me figure out what I'm trying to say! : )

Wow, it's been a little while since I updated my blog. I've got to be better about that but it's hard to do with a busy schedule. Anyhoo, here's a new cover image for this months Cricket magazine. They are a great client and one I work for quite a lot. I also just finished another cover for the Feb. issue of Ladybug. I'll post that when it hits the stands too. : )

Kirkus Starred Review!

Whoo hoo! I found out that my current book, SOPHIE'S FISH, received a starred review from Kirkus. For those of you who may not be familiar with Kirkus, they are notoriously difficult to get a good review from. I'm super excited that they liked this book.

If you haven't picked up a copy of SOPHIE'S FISH, you really need to run out RIGHT NOW and buy one to see what all the fuss is about! : )

I will have signed copies if you want to buy one from me. Just email me and we can work out the details.
